Ahoy!

It's finally summer and instead of spending the entire four months trapped in an office tower temping and twiddling my thumbs, I am stitching shirts for the Scottish Shoppe, aprons and journals for Collage gallery and teaching up a storm at My Sewing Room. Busy as a bee am me!

The Beast aka the dress

I was so busy making the dress that I did not have time to post anything about it. Not only that, but whoever took pictures has failed to forward them to me, so I have no images t post either. However, I can say that I looked like a pretty little German pork chop squashed into the corset and swamped in cloth.

The event was held on a cold and very snowy January day, so turnout was a little disappointing. It did go off without a hitch and there were so many questions afterwards and so many people to meet that the organizers had to kick us out!

Currently, I am making aprons for Collage Gallery and they are selling fairly well.

Mission (I'm)possible?

The mission - recreate this dress.
The reason - costume history lecture for Calgary Opera's production of Little Women
The timeline - due Jan 23, 2010
I know, I know, I'm crazy. But I know I can do this. I also have to make the foundation for the beast - the chemise, drawers, corset, under petticoat, crinoline petticoat and over petticoat.
My mom and I shopped for fabric today at Fabricland, one of very few stores carrying fabric suitable for clothing. Although I wanted silk, it was out of my price range so sadly had to settle for polyester (EEEEEKKKKK!!!!!) Horrifying to say the least. Stay tuned for pictures of my fabric and trim selections and for updates.

Not since 2007, eh?

What can I say - I've been busy! Too busy in fact to finish this post, but I promise I will return soon. LOL!!

Is it Easter already?!!

Well, it has been some time since I updated my blog (as some of my friends have kindly pointed out!) and much has happened.

I was lucky enough to work with Theatre Junction as Head of Wardrobe for their latest work "Show No. 2: The Atlantis Project" and also work with Morpheus Theatre on their G&S production "Yeomen of the Guard".

In the next little while I will be busy baking and cooking for the reception after the spring concert with The Calgary Renaissance Singers and Players on the 21st.

I know it sounds like I am super busy, but actually things have come to a grinding halt for me. A chance to recoupe before diving headlong into another creative project.

Hopefully you are all enjoying the spring - it has only just sprung in Calgary. Please, no more SNOW!

It was a cold and snowy day...

...perfect for staying inside and being creative. I am currently working on fabric postcards and advent calendars.

Keep checking back for pictures of my projects.
